The abbesses of Herford – Archaeological Window Minster
Art in architecture for archaeological windows at Herford Minster (AfaM), 2025 LED panel, control system, light-transmitting concrete (Lucem©), video file bmp, 350 x 45 cm), installation in crossbeams of colonnades. Technical consulting and implementation: EMIT Sales and Projects GmbH, Florian Kick See here for more information. During the implementation, I was able to draw on contemporary original documents relating to the individual abbesses from the North Rhine-Westphalia State Archives. This made it possible to transcribe the names from handwritten records (in some cases even personal signatures) of the abbesses or their colleagues at the convent into pixels. They now appear as calligraphic characters and move slowly across the built-in light concrete panel or fade in and out in chronological order. Total duration of one run: approx. 1:45 hours.
