Space Release #2 | spatial shift

Space Release #2 employs strategies of shifting and overlapping to analyze the fundamental parameters of space. By taking up and recapitulating existing spatial elements, and also by interfering with them, artistic interventions question the use-fulness and signifcance of familiar spaces.

Visibility Conditions

If we only ever saw what we thought, or thought what we saw, how would that be different from now? We think more than we really see, and we feel less too, because there’s so much we have to know.

Dorothee Elisabeth Tretschlaff

A project for the first festival UM08 in Uckermark region. The curator proposed to look into the rural legend of the “last witch of Brandenburg”. Eventually I found documents of 1701 on this very tragic case of a witch trial.

Germans are good

Based on Lewis Caroll’s “Game of Logic” this work consists of three blackboards. Declinations of various relations with German history are written on them. Being a foreigner in the US made me think about German past’s effect on the present.
